Explain the land revenue system of the Mughals.

English:

Akbar's revenue minister Raja Todar Mal refined the land revenue system. The land was measured and classified according to nature and fertility. Under the Zabt system, the average yield of ten years was considered and one-third of the average produce was taken as tax. The system was mainly applied in northern and north-western areas and was later extended to the Deccan during Shah Jahan's reign.

Akbar encouraged intellectual and religious discussions. He welcomed scholars and Portuguese Christian priests to his court. At Ibadat Khana in Fatehpur Sikri, scholars of different religions participated in discussions. He attempted to understand the best principles of different religions and formulated Din-i Ilahi.

English:

Babur established the Mughal Empire in 1526 and introduced Persian architectural influence. Humayun temporarily lost the empire to Sher Shah but later recovered it. Akbar expanded the empire, developed the Mansabdari system and followed a liberal religious policy. Jahangir continued much of Akbar's religious policy, while Nur Jahan gained strong influence at court. Shah Jahan's reign is remembered for the height of Mughal architectural grandeur, including the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Moti Masjid and Jama Masjid. Aurangzeb expanded the empire further, especially into the Deccan, but conflicts with Rajputs, Marathas and Sikhs and his religious policies created resistance.
